From Community to TV Nutritionist |
|
|
Carla started her professional career as a community nutritionist through her
work with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Save the Children fund. She also
started her own private clinic, giving nutrition consultations.

|
|
|
Within a couple
of years she realized the need for a broader nutrition awareness campaign,
capable of reaching a larger audience. The opportunity to present a special TV
segment on nutrition was presented to her and this is how she became a pioneer
in the Arab world as she started her TV career, hosting a special program
dedicated to nutrition. The show is presented on Future Television as part of
‘Alam el Sabah’ and is broadcast nationally and internationally. |

Nutrition Publishing |

|
Carla published 3 books on nutrition in Arabic. ‘Nutrition Secrets’ (Asrar el
Taghthiyah) – was published in Arabic and was the first non academic nutrition
book accessible to everybody and is a general awareness book, with an easy to
read style. This was followed by a second book ‘Healthy Recipes with Carla’ (Al
Atbak el Sehiyah maa Carla), that offered healthy versions of most traditional
Lebanese and international recipes. Both publications became best sellers in
Lebanon and the Arab region. ‘Al Kamel fi Asrar Al Taghziah’ is the third book
Carla published in 2007.

Nutrition Awareness |
|
|
The obesity epidemic has reached Arab countries and with it the risks of
disease. This is becoming a major concern in our society. Carla has contributed
a lot to the increase in Nutrition awareness in the last few years, in the
Middle East region, raising the knowledge around food and exercise for a healthy
life. She continues to do her best and contributes also to this mission, through
her continued work at AUB as an instructor at the department of Nutrition and
Food Sciences.
The number one advice Carla always gives to her TV audience and to her students
at AUB is that moderation is the key to a healthy lifestyle! |
